hi , I'm planning on purchasing another classic car .
My question is : will i fit ?
I'm 6'5" and would appreciate your views on any pre 1960 saloon cars to avoid that could be a problem .
so if you have any sensible suggestions on models to avoid , let me know .
not interested in anything sporty or pre 1935 . just nice family runaround .
cheers |

I think it's not just your height to consider - are you long-legged, or long in the body? You suggest you may consider pre-war cars; if you have long legs you may well still fit in an Austin Ruby, but if long in the body you may have to stoop to see out!
I am a long-legged 6 footer, and found there was plenty of room in my 1930 Morris Cowley ... once inside, but it was almost impossible to get in in the first place. _________________ in the garage: 1938 Talbot Ten Airline

Try a Rover P4. You have a choice of several different engines for the one chassis/body. Made from late 1949 to 1963. very comfortable and properly looked after very reliable.
They can accommodate drivers and passengers from quite a variety of sizes. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

It is easier to say which cars might suit rather than rule out ones that don't.
I would consider a Ford Consul/ Zephyr or perhaps an Austin A95 Westminster.

I'm 31" inside leg. I've just tried adjusting the seat in my Lancia Appia, and I can set it so that I can only just touch the brake pedal, and there's still room for me to sit in the back! It's only a little car - 1100cc - but there's plenty of internal space, and being an obscure Italian car that no-one has heard of, they tend to be quite cheap, especially in Series 3 form as seen on the left:

Ray & Mike,
Why are you suggesting cars with crocodile bonnets when the OP wants "gull wing" type?

Good point Peter. I hadn't made a note of that.
perhaps the Wolseley range should be considered. Plenty of head room in the ones I have encountered.
The 14.

Autin 10 Cambridge (1936-ish).
Mine accomodated my 6' 5" frame well. However, my Morris 10M (1946) was quite a squeeze to get into, although not bad once in (narrow doors). _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Beautiful A95 would certainly tempt me(to each his(her) own.
Perhaps a visit to the main site which contains many, many cars for ideas.
Certainly much food for thought on there, cheers,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible
