You don't see many of these around. They must be pretty rare...and this one seems intent on self destruction.
Windows would have been added yonks ago.
Question: is it too far gone?
(Unitary construction will make it a tricky restoration and - as we know - rarity is no guarantee of economical repair! )

I also think for the money it would be a good investment even if it were bought just to be tucked away in the dry.
All small classic commercials are getting very sought after. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Reminds me of a Bedford CA I bought some years ago for mechanical spares, as we dragged it out of the garage the only thing holding the thing together was the roof! we had to use multiple ratchet straps to "brace" the van enough to get it on the trailer, once home the mechanical bits were removed whilst the van was still on the trailer, it was then taken straight to the scrap yard where I got the princely sum £8.76 for the remaining steel!

Tempted Ray?

This is one of those times when someone like me opines that such and such rare survivor should be saved ....but it's always someone else who should take it on isn't it?
Even if I had the space my long suffering wife would have a hissy fit!!
...just thought...I have just splashed out £700 for a new TC petrol tank...for that money I could have had a hole car! |

I do enjoy seeing these rare vans that are right on the brink. I once turned down an A40 10 CWT van for no money. |

You wouldn't get much of a car for that money at today's prices, not round these parts anyway. A runner with MOT is likely to be north of a grand whatever the mileage and whatever else is wrong with it... |

Vans are so collectable, condition doesnt seem too much of drawback with some of these. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Vans are unfortunately commercials and they usually get used a lot more than cars, and driven until they are worn out.
I once ordered a new A35 van from Lookers in Manchester but there was a waiting list and I kept being pushed back in the queue because I did not pay a "bribe".
Those Morris vans were very popular in their day and there are very few still around. |

Interestingly with the Bedford CA, today, the rarest of vans is the simple panel van, there are many more campers and ice cream vans that have survived, yet in the day the panel van would have represented the majority of sales.

I would hazard a guess that the same is also true of, say, Ford Transits that survive. Campers would have had an easier life then as now compared to a builder's van or delivery van and would be more likely to be looked after. An ice cream van has always represented a large investment and would likewise be more likely to receive the sort of care that would tend towards survival. |
