Hi all,
A chilly breeze and leaden skies welcomed drivers in this area to Drive It Day 2019, which as often happens coincides with the Cheshire Run, a drive out for classic (and quite a few not-that-classic-IMO) commercial vehicles. And as has happened in years previous, a number of us congregated at a local vintage garage to watch the lorries rumble by, while discussing matters motoring over a cup of tea and a mixed assortment of sandwiches.
Little Dodge was our chariot of choice, the short journey was a little breezy and more than a little chilly for junior and I - at least on the run out - but an enjoyable trip nonetheless. Various cars taking part in Drive It Day activities were also spotted during our excursion, which was encouraging to see.
Here are a few photos of the sightings we made.

I don't know if I was early or late going through Nantwich on Sunday morning, but I didn't see any vehicles on this run. I did see a few cars obviously going off for a DiD run. |

That's some superb lorries, some nice smaller stuff too.
I like the workmanlike Foden Land rover. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Hello Rick. Thanks for the fabulous photos of the lovely lorries. Lots of respect to the guys that restore these, they drop out of common usage far more quickly than their contemporary cars.

Hi Rick, thanks for the brilliant pix - good to see the trucks on the road.
I saw one oily rag American pickup & got a flash. All the best,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible

John,
This seems to be the ‘in thing’ in the States. I’ve recently been watching some of the car related programs higher up the tuner like Fast and Loud, Sin City Motors and the trend is to preserve the oily rag look as we call it, they say ‘patinated’ or ‘rat rodded look’ to the point where they are actually painting on ‘rust’. In an episode of F&L the guy buys a ‘rat look’ Chevy complete with artificial patination for $15K, puts it straight into an auction and doubles or trebles his money. So all is not what it seems, apparently!
