Just bought a universal fuel gauge sender unit for my +ve earth Singer 9A, but the unit says -ve earth only. Is this important? It's just a variable resistor after all - or will it work backwards?! |

If it is just a variable resistor then there will be no problem. If it contains some semiconductors then there might be a problem.

Thanks. Can't see any other electrical gubbins in there. Waiting for an answer from someone in Singer O C who's used one succesfully but he may have changed his car's polarity |

Put a multimeter across the terminals and it does indeed work the same both ways, so I guess we're good to go. Panic over. |
