Horizontally-opposed plugs. For horizontally-opposed engines like 2CV, Boxter, VW etc..

Look at those plugs again. There is no provision for HT lead.

There are double ended coils for the engines that you mention but not double ended plugs.

It's just a wind up...

As a long-time owner of a 2CV I can very much say with authority that normal spark plugs are fitted to the engine. The coil is a double-ended unit, with each end powering each of the two plugs.

I presume it works on the 'wasted spark' principle?
