I think Ray has correctly spotted flutes on the header tank indicating a Daimler.

I thought it a bit later than 1920 because it appears to have front wheel brakes.

Whilst the ambulance does indeed look very much like an LGOC B type, those thin spoke wheels would not be right and the radiator top doesn't match to all the photos I've seen of them. I think it must be a lighter derivative. _________________ Daimler Fifteen 1934

I suggested the ambulance could be a Daimler because I think I can (just about) detect flutes on the top of the radiator and the top corner is indicative of the marque; as are the wire wheels.
Many heavily built cars were pressed into war duties for that conflict. |

HC is dated April 1911 to Sept 1949. so how long would it take to get to 59## in Eastbourne? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Sorry, don't know that. I think Standard fitted front wheel brakes from around 1927 which was late. I think this is a V3 model with overhead valve engine (with exposed rockers and pushrods) producing 11.4 HP from 1600 c.c.
The earlier V cars had the radiator cooling fins exposed to the sides; these were later concealed (as in this case) by the shell. |

Sorry, I went back and edited my previous post.
I think you are right about the Daimler flutes.

Is that one of the header tanks with relatively shallow flutes moulded/cast?
I remember seeing one, presumably older, with the flutes that looked like the cooling fins on an air cooled motorcycle engine. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

See my edited post above. Since posting I am wondering if the front wing rivets might help date the Standard. Later cars seem not to have them. |
