So, I am nearing the completion of our 1942 Commer GS truck.
Over the last year or so to compliment the truck at our re-enactment displays I have been building up a nice collection of wartime tools, all date stamped between 1939-45 and with the military broad arrow. Hopefully they will make a good talking point when we show the lorry.
Anyone else collect and display items relating to their vehicle? _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I try to get a few bits and pieces together for each of them, latest for the 4CV being a couple of unused but not rare (!) postage stamps that were issued a few years ago featuring light blue Renaults on them. Now affixed to the dash. I also dug out a '53 Air France timetable to put in the back, which just so happens to mention 4CV car hire in it.
I'd like a California road map for the Dodge pickup. I've put a few old toolboxes in the back and have been accumulating a few "in period" tools to go in them.
Big Dodge has plenty of old stuff in it, as does the Anglia (eg clip-on picnic tray in its box, old bulbs, '50s camera, Woodbine cig packet, that kind of thing).

All kind of things really. Spinner cuff links, SS100 grill decanter, Jaguar carriage clock, models everywhere, leapers, reference books, handbooks, road tests, some rare spare parts, rally plaques, trophies, keyrings, catalogues, advertising - I could go on but have no wish to bore you. It is so good that we all have different likes and long may we continue to collect. |

It is good that we all have different interests and collections with our cars. I do find when we're out at a show that seeing something with the car is always a good starting point for a good chat!! _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
