This A 70 Hereford must surely be worth a grand? You don't often find restoration projects that have not been started; then abandoned, do you?
My Uncle had one similar to this. (It may have been a Hampshire; I can't remember exactly, but it was actually a good reliable car that replaced a venerable old Austin 20 ...(that my Dad would have bought - had it not been for it's prodigious thirst.!)
What amazes me is that they are still out there!!! |

I've always had a soft spot for the Devon, it was the first car restoration project I went to view when I was about 16....
I think of the Austin Counties as good first time classic project cars, fairly cheap to buy and maintain and quite often you see projects and rusty runners come up for sale. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

I recall as a short-trousered ankle biter being driven around Whipsnade Zoo in the '50's by a family fiend, in a black Somerset[?},with their two kids and myself standing on the backs of the front sats with our heads out of the sunroof.
H&S would have had PTSD over this, today... _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

Talking about the Devon; my Wife's Uncle had a Devon and the family went all over the Country in it on various holidays. Jean's Grandmother used to claim that - sitting in the back - it was the most comfortable car she had ever been in.
I have never been in a Devon, myself. It was only a humble A40.... was the back seat that comfy ?? |

My parents owned this A70 Hereford when I was a boy. I took the photo with my first proper camera. This was loading it onto MV Claymore for trip from Oban to Mull.
Here it is again taken by me with my first camera (a dreadful thing from Woolworths) showing my father with the car.
Here's a frame from cine film of my big sister and me getting the "Dabchick" the little 9' rowing boat off the roof.

Seems the car was sold at the same dealer a few weeks before?
