Some kind of 2CV?

I think 2 donkeys = 1 CV!

They may be thirsty.

Bonnet mascot duly noted!

The irrepressible 2CV. They are really quite awful things...but it is almost impossible not to admire them.

In a way, it's a shame they are not around anymore. Probably the nearest thing to a modern day Vintage car. Always brings a smile.

Oui?

Also begs the question how the cars on top and behind the cab were loaded...?

Probably more important to know how they are unloaded!! i expect they used ramps after disconnecting the rear trailer with the other two cars on.

Ray, may I respectively disagree about 'really quite awful things'. For those who appreciate good design (by which I mean engineering, not 'styling') they are a masterpiece.

Unlike VW Beetle's which are an abomination!

I've owned two of each, by the way

I have now found a caption saying it was the occasion of a driving test failure in 1958 so I think that still keeps it on the cusp, unless it was Pre-October.

Can anybody hazard an ID and date for the M/bikes?
The cyclist appears to be an AA patrol so it must be post 1905.

I would guess before the 1920s.

Not many would recognise it now but that is the Waggon and Horses at Beckhampton. (1669)

Motorcycles are not my strong point, but I think the machine in the centre of the photo is a single-cylinder Triumph circa 1911-12.

As the proud owner of a 2CV for over 20 years I agree they are far from awful and they are a masterpiece. I bought my current one in April 2002 with 70k miles on the clock, it's now sitting on 275k miles and has taken me all over the UK and Europe. It'll sit on a motorway at 65-70mph all day long. Speed bumps and pot holes don't exist in a 2CV. There's a saying "You either love them or you don't understand them". There was a time when I hated them but I've seen the light and I'm a complete convert to Deuchism Laughing
