I'm not really a concours fan but it is nice to have your car well turned out for some special occasions and I wondered if anyone had any good tips for cleaning wire wheels? Preferably in some non-labour intensive way. I have tried foam bathroom cleaners and they're not bad but perhaps there is some other trick that I'm missing. Sad

Hi Peter

I have never had to clean wire wheels, my MGA has them so will when it is eventually back on the road!. I would imagine a jet wash would do a good job and take some of the graft out...

I'm not sure if this is the kind of thing that you are looking for, maybe its a little to harsh, but have a look at this link, and click on Jaguar XKE

I know that this next suggestion is well over the top, but would stainless steel spokes and even rims not be a good labour saving idea? I know as well that there is at least one company that makes it possible to fit tubeless tyres on wire wheels.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I did buy a cheap pressure washer some years ago and found it totally useless and took it back to the shop but I must admit that the pressure jets in garage car washers are very much better.

That magic stuff does look effective. There were SS Jags sold with plated wheels ...

but I think I'd prefer to keep the kind-of understated look that body colour gives. This was how most of the cars left the factory.
