A pal of mine in NSW Australia is planning to have a clear-out, unless a home can be found for this Kew-type Fargo it'll be in for the chop. Anyone genuinely interested in making an offer for it pls get in touch..

Hi

Not that I am interested in buying this, but how much does it cost to import things like this from Australia?

Cheers

I suppose £1500ish in a container, give or take, although watch for import duty on commercials built 1950 and onwards as its much higher %rate

not for normal stuff, but I guess if you got into shipping a traction engine there may be limits you'd need to observe (or else pay extra for)

Hi

How did you guess what I was thinking of!

Seriously though, I think it is very difficult to export from Australia and NZ and other places with an engine now!

Cheers

Weight will be limited to what the maximum for the container was designed to carry, plus what the maximum weight restriction for the roads they are being delivered from & to.
When I was driving trucks the max in the UK was 39 tonnes, but if it came via the Euro tunnel the law allowed a weight of 44 tonnes. These weights do however include the truck and trailer.
The average truck is around 8 tonnes, skeletal trailer for a container 4 tonnes which would leave 27 tonnes for the container and load.
There are special dispensations for over weight loads but a lot of paperwork and red tape is involved and unless it was something very special, not worth the effort
