Thanks Rick, glad they liked it.

The cab is now stripped back to shiny steel and only has a couple of small rust spots at the bottom of the doors. These will be sorted at the weekend and then primer and topcoat - although I might need to wait till the weather is a bit warmer and dryer before painting.

Ooooooh wow!!!
That is my kind of truck.
I love the waterfall grille. So art deco !
My hats off to your sir for not going the ratty unrestored route.
Too many 40s/50s pick-ups over here wearing last seasons 'rat look'. Rolling Eyes
Im my opinion the rat look was born out of sheer laziness.
Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful. [jealous/]
Cool

Hi Paul,

Glad you like it. It's all been primed and rubbed down now and I'm now waiting on a few warm dry wind free days to get the garage dust free and put on the finished green.

I did buy it to do the rad-rod thing but then realised I couldn't drive about in a truck like that Smile

I don't mind a rough used truck but agree with you on the rat scene.

Here's some pics with half still to coat:

..and the front fender in great condition

Hi Rick,

Painting has gone well so far Smile

Took it out for a 5 mile run only to find too much play in the steering - which I suspected but couldn't get the drag arm and rod ends off. The drive forced me to burn them off and order new ones from the USA which should be with me mid May.

One of the front fenders is ready for painting and the other is all welded up and has a few coats on filler and then rubbing down to go through. Then it's just the hood and the 2 lights. Have booked it into Thirlestane car show on 6th June to force me to a date.

Cheers

Hello dalbuie,
I must make a note of the date for Thirlestane to see your efforts on display. It looks grand right now and I am sure the finished article will be well worth popping up from Northumberland for!
Practically next door, in fact.
Regards,
oldtimer

originally the Dodge was a fair bit lighter than this, although I agree this would have been a good colour to go with, if I had no scraps of the original paint to match up with

The original on this was a bit lighter but the green hammerite I used on the chassis and bed sides was close so I went with that.

If I was doing it again now I'd go with POR15 chassis paint and get the celly mixed to the slightly lighter original colour.

I'm very happy with how it's turned out so far but you are always learning Smile

I'm not spending quite as much time on it as I was since meeting up with Peter. He got me mixed up with a very bad influence and I now have 50% ownership of an RMF, 2 RMBs an RMA and an RME (spatted)! All this after I promised myself I would only ever do one car/truck at a time Laughing

..and there's even a remote possibility he might get mixed up with a dreadful Mk V Jaguar! Shocked
