The blue used on 103e Populars at that time is a light-ish blue, I don't know the proper name for it but in my opinion it is the best colour Ford offered for the Pop.

Here's one.

and here's another one I painted a couple of years back.

Try Anglia Obsolete, They have most codes.

http://www.angliaobsolete.com/codes.html

I had to take mine to a local paint shop. They told me to let them have a pattern (side air vent) which they matched. They made up a couple of aerosols for me and it's pretty much bang on, apart from being shiney.

I'll make a few enquiries, see if someone I know has the old paint books for 50s Fords.

Pompadour Blue is listed as a 1959-1961 colour, the paint colour code is AR.

Oooh the plot thickens...

I have an original sales brochure for the Pop which shows the car in the blue, I'll dig it out (from somewhere! Shocked ) and take a look at the options listed.

That way we'll know once and for all. what's the blue listed for '55 -56 called then?

shouldn't be hard to sort the correct blue with some more research, stripping back the car sufficiently to paint all the blue bits black, sounds like a lot more work!!!
