Evening all Wink
I have found a temperature gauge for my DS Citroen but before I go about dismantling the dash is there a way of physically testing it, it obviously works by resistance as it has a kriss kross coil as such and 3 terminals
Thank you

Does it have a sender unit attached to it?

No the sender is on the thermostat housing
It is just an exposed needle that moves up and down with 2 coils of wire in a cross pattern in actual fact it looks identical to the fuel gauge

1 connection will be a live feed in but what I don't know is if the sender unit has 1 or 2 connections. If the sender has 2 connections they will feed back to the gauge. If however the sender unit has 1 wire then I am not sure.
The 2 moving coils are for adjusting the gauge for accuracy.

Thank you for that
The main thing is that the water temp gauges are as rare as rocking horse poo but as they look like the fuel gauge apart from the markings I also wondered whether they would be interchangeable; they work via a resistance signal so I would like to see if they responded to the same signal.
Maybe I will just try and connect it up to see how it responds Idea
