Hi all

I received this q in the 'post' this morning, can anyone help Jens out with his query about W&P Mini quarterlights??

---------------------

"Hi my name is Jens, I live in Denmark, and have restored a W&P MINI , this car is the worst car ever to find parts for? As you first have to know the original make of car, from where they took the item, and adapted them to their Coachbuilt MINIs.

It took me 8 years to find the missing headrest, I knew it was a RECARO
seat, but what I didnt know, was that it was from a PORSCHE 911 RS, all the years I searched for RECARO seats, and the minut I knew it was a PORSCHE seat, there was bite on Ebay.

But now for the reson for my letter, I need to find out the make of car that W&P took the quarter windows from? I know that its NOT from either the Australian MINI, and its not Innocenti MINI, and its not the 1100/1300 range either.

What I DO know after searching for many years, is that they are older than 1962, as they were put into the Sellers MINI built by Hoopers, and that car was built around 1962/63, for the movie "A SHOT IN THE DARK" .

My guess is some British car from before 1962, and maybe a make that Hoopers were already familiar with?

Here is some close up shots, I hope you can help me? Or know someone that can? I really need to find out as I need new rubber seals for them, and they sit in a little special groove, so only the original will do a proper job. Here is the link

http://www.stochholm-borresen.dk/w-p.htm

you can enlarge each photo.

If you want to see the almost finished car? Go to http://www.showcars.dk/

I have tried 27 different forums, without NO luck, so now I will ask someone who knows his cars.

Best regards from Jens."

Perhaps the guys at Radford can help.

Harold Radford Coachbuilders (London) Ltd

It was Radfords that first put up/down windows into Minis and added the quarterlights.

http://aronline.co.uk/index.htm?radfordminif.htm

I had numerous Minis back in the 60's and 70', something. somewhere deep in the back of my mind tells me that the front quarterlights were adapted from the rear opening quarterlights of soemthing like an Aston or Bentley..... don't know where that info came from, but back in the days of the original Radford conversions there was a lot of information in magazines etc.

As skilled coach builders, Radfords could modify or make almost any body part.

Hi and thanks for your reply, I have already tried the Radford/W&P companies, but there was no info Confused 8/11 Still NO luck Rolling Eyes is there really no one that recognice the little handle?

They were nice and helpfull in other ways, but couldnt provide any info regarding the quarter windows, and as said Radford/W&P was skilled craftsmen.
I can see that a little bit, was added to the front part of the crome frame, before they (re)cromed it, its hard to see, but they did alter the front corner to make it fit the MINI door.

Hope someone recognises the little curvy handle? that is so destinct, and should be easy to spot for the owner of the original car from where it was taken.

I am already on the Aronline forum also, plus atleast 22 other forums?

I had the same thought as peterwpg, the position of the latch would suggest that it was from a rear door originaly.
