Hi is it possible to replace the 4.50 x 17 on my morris series e with 5.50 x 17 would the extra width cause a problems? thanks |

Check very carefully that your Morris rims are wide enough for this much larger tyre. This is a safety issue.
The overall diameter will probably be larger giving the car a slightly higher top speed but with slower acceleratiom.
Also be aware that they will probably foul the mudguards (inner and outer) when the car is on full lock and make is neccessary to increase the turning circle of the vehicle by restricting the full lock of the car.

Thank you keith that is so very helpful indeed, I wonder if its possible to fit the 5.5 x 17 on the rear and the 4.5 x on the front would that be okay for the mot? thanks once again rgds andy |

You could fit two different tyre sizes so long as the same size tyres are on the same axle. The problem comes when you get a puncture and only have one size spare. _________________ ROVER

Your proposed size is 1 inch wider. Will bulge from the rim a bit but should be okay at 1/2" per side. Especially as you say, if only at the rear.
The MoT has nothing to do with tyre sizes so will be fine.
As said, the spare will be odd, but this is no different to most modern cars with a space saver spare. _________________ 1937 Standard Flying Twelve
