Maggie sent this question in, has anyone here any recommendations or experiences with these 'pram hood' type covers???
=====
Hello, I know you can get these - the ones I have seen look like a very
large pram hood, into which you drive the car and then pull it over the
rest. Do you know where I can find out about the cost etc., for these, or
if there are any other sorts of yeasy to use covers? Kind regards. _________________ Rick - Admin

Do you mean this type ?
They are fairly common here in Canada at least and several of our neighbours erect them on their drive over the winter to provide protection from the snow and ice.
It is wise to clear heavy falls of snow from the roof.
Make sure it is well secured to the ground. |

I had one of the "pram hood" types and it was big enough to fit my 81 Chevy Caprice inside it. It had it's good and bad points. The cover material was not very long lasting, although you could have a better material but at extra cost. You need to fix them to the ground as they can move about in the wind. Half can be fixed to the ground but you also need to secure the fold over part because in the wind the free part moves around and can damage your car. Condensation was a problem, so don't put a car in there and forget it, because your car will be permanently wet.
If my memory serves me right, mine was around £400 and that was 8 years ago. So I would not say they are cheap.

Hi
I thought about these a while back, but using them to store a car in for any time period in my eyes is a no no, in that they stay so wet, there is no way to stop condensation, even if you put a ground sheet on the floor.
I think I would prefere my car to stand out in the open, I supose if it leaks then maybe some kind of cover is wise, but otherwise, leave it out.
Cheers
