Whoops Embarassed what was the problem? I can see a puddle of water under the car so my guess is: burst radiator hose?

Nope! She does chuck out a bit of water when she stops and 1 ltr of water will last 200 miles so it is not a major issue. These old girls get a bit incontinent. If you look in the engine bay the rocker cover is off. She threw a rocker on No2 cylinder and it was really easy to put it back in place. You can push the valve down with your thumb, slot it back in place then a quick adjust. We made it the 100 miles home. But where are we?

Is it because the push rods bend? I always thought these Talbots had very elegant push rods. Shocked

Wow Peter, how long did it take you to draw that? Not sure why the rocker jumped out but I will check all the clearances on saturday.

Oi Peppi - insults I can take, but calling me an accountant, that is going too far.

Hi Jason, I did the work but I had forgotten my tools. He was quite knowledgable and was ready to steam in. He did the RAC proud, but in the end just lent me his tools.
And Brian he could have called you a Social worker!
