I used to have one but really couldn't get on with the door being directly over the drawbar.
From memory they were 1948 - 1953, but this is the link you want:
http://classicsafaris.proboards.com
and I suspect you may be hearing from a fellow Forum member soon....

If it's a Safari, you can bet BrianM will be along in a minute! He'll probably be able to tell you the name of the man who built it! |

Dammit 15 minutes too late!!
I don't know who you could mean but the Minor is the one Safari I have never seen in the flesh.
In my Safari Albums attached to the ClassicSafaris group you refer to, I have the following photos, and several years ago I saw a dark green one for sale on the net, but couldn't download the photos.
You are right about the dates, it was Safari Caravans first production van, and was launched in 1948.
OVM - you should join our group and have the distinction of owning the oldest Safari. _________________ Brian

By the way, it shared the same towing characteristics as a garden shed.
And if it's on 16" wheels, go for taxi radial remoulds - or even s/h Michelin taxi tyres. |
