But BSF fixings as opposed to BSW have smaller heads since around 1940? _________________ Rover P2

I get all mine from South Essex Fasteners in Southend
Their catalogue says they have UNC, UNF, BSW, BSF.
I usually take the old bolt or nut and in over 20 years they have always been able to supply the correct one at ridiculously cheap prices.

I have been playing around with the formula forwarded by George, without much success.
Since NO AF spanners truly duplicate Whitworth sizes they can only be approximate (even 3/16W and 7/16AF). Trying to use wrong size spanners, including 13mm in place of 1/2in AF (which is 12.7mm), is asking for damaged and unsightly hexagons and jaw spread on open ended spanners or cracked socket spanners. Not to mention damaged and unsightly (AND painful knuckles). _________________ Quote from my late Dad:- You only need a woman and a car and you have all the problems you

Thomas Smith Fasteners (01942 520260)have the largest stocks of BSF & BSW fasteners in the country. They also hold stocks of UNC/UNF and Metric. Their own manufacturing arm is able to produce all types of special bolts, rivets etc.

Hope that this helps. |
