Why all the anonimity? Do you guys want to say things that you wouldn't want to be associated with?

I would never put my full name on a forum, it's different having it in the profile but on the forum where any Tom, Dick or Dirty Harry can see it especially with the location on there as well. Internet safety they call it, we should black out our number plates as well you know
Any way, back to topic........
I got the name Giggles as a result of being very giggly. Simple. Hubby is Sniper as he owns Humber Super Snipes. I will at times refer to our kids as little Sniper or Little Giggles. I was at one stage known as Old Bird, refering to the bird bonnet mascot on the Snipe, but people thought I was old so I changed it to Giggles instead. _________________ 1953 Humber Hawk

Because out in the wider world of the web there are people who "steal" real names like yours and then cause mischief on similar sites just for fun. If you use a "handle" type identfier then you have room to change it without the additional worry that you might meet people in the real world who remember some event where "you" apparently caused problems on their web site.
I speak from experience on ChevyTalk.com, where we had a group of agitators arrive, steal names and proceeded to go out into the wider world of motor related web sites and caused no end of problems for the "real name" members on CT.
You couldn't pay me enough money to use my real name on the net - a disaster waiting to happen in my view. |

peppi is the name of one of my budgies, and the B is simply short for budgie!
As Scotty says I would also never give my real name on a public forum because of mischief makers out there. |

Well now giggles, I'll bet it would be easier to track you down by the probably unique selection of cars you list than by your real name! _________________ Quote from my late Dad:- You only need a woman and a car and you have all the problems you

Maybe I'm being a bit thick or maybe it's different when you have a fairly common name like me, but I doubt if I'm really much more traceable than many of the anons on this forum.
If I do get cloned then I guess I can always change to another "real" name.

Hi
I tried to think of something, that wasn't taken already, something to remember, and buzzy bee, is ideal as we keep bees. It is easy to use across a range of forums too.
Nopw off the forum, lots of people call me buzzy, and I reply to that sometimes better than to Dave, as I know where someone knows me from!
Cheers

As a member who uses the internet a lot for my classic related business, I wanted a username that was recognisable as me!
In various places on the internet you can find my name, address, telephone number which I suppose is an occupational hazard, but one I am happy to put up with if it brings me some business. _________________ Brian

ours is a mix of both our names but he keeps being referred to as my surname not his by people who call and after all the years we have been together he does not bother to correct people now, we did wonder if we should change our names by depole to this mix |
