Hi, I have just joined the forum and thought I should introduce my self, some of you will know me already namely Uncle Alec and Barry Lord. I own six caravans but I only have five now, one was stolen which Uncle Alec kindly posted on here for me (the Winchester Pipit) I would like to thank you all for your concern and for keeping an eye open for our Winchester, and with special thanks to Uncle Alec for his help in being our publicity officer.
The caravans we own:
1938 Leason - 1939 Folo - 1948 Bristol – 1954 Car Cruiser Lynx – 1967 Cheltenham Sprigbok and the stolen 1954 Winchester Pipit.
I also have a classic car a 1951 Riley RMB.

G'day Peter,
It is sad to hear that the Winchester was never recovered.... you
would expect it would stand out in a crowd if the thieves ever take
it to a rally, so there may still be hope.
I've never heard of the "Folo" caravan....which doesn't mean a
lot because living "Down Under" as I do, I only know what I read
about English caravans.... is it a folding caravan ?
I'd like to see photos of your collection, what are the chances

G'day Cobber
Yes the Folo is a folding caravan, at the moment I don't have any photos of the Folo I will try and post photos of the rest, if it works!

Thanks for putting those photos on Peter, they're terrific.
Things I notice... no fly screens ALL caravans in Australia have
fly screens on ALL opening windows and doors..... and still the little
buggers get in, on the other hand I don't know of a caravan down
here with double glazing.
Beside the Bristol:- I lust after one of those “Caracans”, we have
nothing similar in Oz.... but we do have a very similar table to the
one you have there, who made your's ?
The Leason :- Judging by the amount of paraphernalia around and
inside the Leason (I love Paraphernalia ).. I'd guess she's
your favorite 'van.
And there are those Caracans again, and I have a collection of
pendents too, in fact I've copied a couple of ideas from the way you
blokes display your 'vans....kerosene lamps on a pole... little
decorative things on top of the awning poles....all good stuff,
(and I know that's not a jockey wheel Penman ) .
I have read that the Lynx had the floor below the chassis members
but... looking in the doorway of your photo that doesn't appear to be
the case.... is the floor below the chassis .
The Cheltenham...1967....... do people in the HCC still talk to you Peter

Caracans are still out there, I actually picked one up at a big Antiques fair. It's the one with what I call the teapot type pouring spout. Bargained him down to £8.00 |

G'day Steve,
I have seen Caracans on ebay, one sold early December for
£ 5.50 …. I should have got that one , and there is
another one on ebay now with a starting price of £9.99 and
a big dint in the side.... it appears to be a different shape to
others I have seen...I'll leave it for Peter to add to his collection.
There will be others....my turn will come .
