Drive it day one week tomorrow.
Where's your being held.

The CVCM, Chelmer Valley run is from East Anglian Museum Chelmsford to Melford Hall, Long Melford, route will be approx 40 miles, to be handed out on the day.
OK if you have a navigator, or manage to keep site of the car in front. Smile

Just hope the weather is good for all.

Cameras will be at the ready.

As I'd thought the Cheshire (classic lorry) Run was on DiD this year, that's what I was planning to drive over and watch - doh.

Now I'm not sure what I'll be doing on the 22nd (any local gatherings on MikeE ?). I might just take the truck out for another local proving run, once I've fixed the transmission brake, and take the Morris out for a spin.

I have been lucky enough to get a place on the Hagerty Insurance Drive It Day run from Silverstone to Donnington.

Should be about 350 miles in the day home to home, with an 80 mile run in the company of 150 other classics.

Going with my son in the Amazon so might even get some pictures!

I was hoping to do the CVCM too Roger, but I can't make it now. Look out for Jon though in his red machine, as he's doing it with his wife this year (!?!)
I still want to take the Manta out somewhere for a run though, just gonna keep an eye on the rain and see where I end up. Piccies of the CVCM run though please Rog!

Just found out last week why the drive it day is the same weekend each year.
Started in 2005.

Must have a bigger attendance than the London Brighton run.

Roger

PS camera is ready.

Sandbach Festival of Transport is on Sunday as well, always clashes with Drive-it Day but I think SFoT was running first. Also our club (SCCCC) has a run up to a local museum.

South Cheshire is going to be busy on Sunday! Look out for some Riley RMs driving from Bartington to Hankelow for lunch at Brookfield Golf Club. Give us a wave or toot.

So who's been out and about today? I took the Morris out for a spin this morning (photos to follow), and also gave the vintage Atco mower a firing up session Smile

Twas a grand day out

About two hundred cars on the Chelmsford to Long Melford run.

Had a couple of short, hail, showers after arrival at Melford, apart from that a very nice day, sitting here feeling as though I was out in too much sun today.

Will sort the photos later.

As soon as the professional photographer have loaded to the CVCM site I'll post a link.

We went on the road rally around the Liecestershire countryside today starting at the Dog and Gun public house, through lovely villages and a brief stop at Foxton Locks,nr Market Harborough. We drove in the dry to start with which was very pleasent.
When we got to the finish venue at the Husband Bosworth Airfield it lashed it down.Everyone went home early so there was not a lot of outside chat around the cars, it was a very damp end to the day.Numbers were down this year due to the weather I think.

I have spent this evening playing in the workshop wiping and drying down the car we took today, as she got a good soaking on the way home due to our friends insisting on taking the scenic route ,the country lanes were awash with water, but alas not the right sort to end this hose pipe ban here in the east of England.

I joined members of the 2CV Club of Great Britain and the Traction Owners Club from Avon/Somerset.
Met at the Newport Transporter Bridge http://www.fontb.org.uk/
followed by a drive up the Wye Valley, lunch at a pub near Monmouth and finally a trip to the Forest of Dean railway http://www.deanforestrailway.co.uk/.
Good time had by all despite the rain showers.

The down side is my clutch needed adjusting after a few miles, then I think the fuel pump is on the way out...made it home ...just!!
Very few other cars about..spotted an MGA, 2 x Standard 10's.

Took the Manta for a run from Southminster to Earls Colne area. Nice pub lunch and back home just before the downpour hit earlier. Only a couple of light showers whilst I was out. Mostly nice and sunny and had the roof open!
Saw lots out and about in Essex too. Described what in the seen out and about thread!

I've added some photos to the Minor thread, here's one for here

Later in the day, the joys of two-strokes were enjoyed thanks to the old mower...
