Morris Minor Traveller had been in family ownership for 25 years, but had seen inactive use for a number of years.

It was fully restored 25 years ago,1275 Midget engine,Midget diff, uprated braking system with servo, updated interior,2 pack paintwork Volvo red.
It really needed putting back on the road.
My wife is now the new owner of the car and hopes to have another 25 years fun out of it

After a months spare time work, evenings and weekends she was ready for the MOT inspection, passing with flying colours the car is now on the road for the seasons FUN

New Minilight wheels and tyres set it off nicely.
I use Danish oil on the timber, further coats have been applied since taking the photo,it gives it a nice natural look. |

Nothing going on in our neck of the woods event wise
Today was the best day all week, got the car out this afternoon and gave it a run
They are so practical, delivered a friends 100 ltr compressor in the back of the car to his house, can you get one of those in a modern plastic eurobox
The younger generation look in amazement at the car, they are not sure what it is. |

Love the car (had one once), love the colour and love the wheels (I have them on my Riley 1.5) but those door mirrors don't do it justice. |

Considering it was restored 25 years ago, obviously styles change.
The door mirrors suited it then, the sun has not helped in fading the bright red colour of the plastic.
I am going to look around for some nice chrome ones.
Also I am going to reinstate the bumpers.
It was all the craze back then to de-bumper everything, and lower it into the weeds!!!
The main priority these last weeks has been to make it mechanically reliable, strip and danish oil the timber, polish up the paintwork and stainless, get an MOT.
The small cosmetic changes will be done now its running fine. |

Hi, I'm in Southend, Essex, there is a classic car show on in Vange near Basildon on Monday if you fancy a trek
The Minors are my dads, the 1971 Traveller is currently on Ebay, it was just a bit too rusty unfortunately. The saloon is undergoing a full respray and has had a small amount of welding.
I was up in Ely just before Christmas and I couldn't believe the amount of old cars I saw, seems to be a bit of a haven for them up in your neck of the woods
Here's the thread about the Minors:
