Hi,
I've been signed up on here for ages but never posted...I'm well overdue I reckon!
Rick...you are to be congratulated on a great site with so much information and wonderful pics.
I'm Stan in Leicester and now heavily (for my sins and shrinking wallet!) into Rover P6's. Having passed my test in 1973 as a young springer I coveted a 3500S...no chance!...fast forward 35 years (things just seem to get in the way, don't they?)...and this was my first foray into the model a couple of years ago...
The bonnet was still in the original shade of Tobacco Leaf but was heavily oxidised and cratered whilst the rest of the car had been (very badly!) resprayed in a shade I came to describe as Caramac! The engine, though willing, was tired and oh so leaky! Solid base unit though...
Top end rebuild December '08 to March '09...3.9 EFi cam, Range Rover heads and inlet manifold, uprated oil pump and timing set...
Had to do something about that Caramac though...
Respray February to March 2010...
-------------------
Glutton for punishment...I've now started on restoring a 1966 last-of-the-Dunlop-braked 2000 that'll keep me busy for a year or three...
More anon...glad to be aboard!
Cheers for now. |

G'day Stan, I'm rather partial to the P6 myself and have a few languishing in sheds. One day I'll have to bite the bullet and decide what to do with them all, as I currently use 2 Rover 90's and an SE2 for transport. Welcome to the forum, smashing job on the 3500, I'll look forward to seeing progress on the 2000. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |

You've made a lovely job of the 3500s Stan,The 1st car that I drove legally when I was 17 was a Rover P5b that my Dad owned (try getting insured on one of those as a 17 year old these days!!) I've always had a soft spot for Rovers (Mty Dad always had Rovers) and my 1st Car was a 1954 Rover 60,I think I was 12 years old when I bought that! Welcome to the forum by the way! |

Lovely job,I always thought the P6 was a great car and the addition of the V8 made it a potent one too.
I'm slowly working my way through the improvement of a P5B.It's a pity parts for thse old Rovers are now so expensive I think there must be a few destined for breaking that could have been saved were not parts so high priced. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

Here's my P5B.I've done some welding underneath and inside but the bodies good for the year.
It was stored over 15 years and a lot of the rubber items have had to be repaired or replaced.
The interior was a bit poor but it's looking a lot better all round now. the picture enlarges if you click on it. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |
