I am seeking info on a suitable thread for restitching the seat leather on my P6 Rover.
Is it a special type of thread or just normal cotton.
I could let a professional have a go but I like to have a go at all aspects of restoration.

It is not normal cotton and the lower thread is a thicker losser wound thread. Give Wollies a ring and ask for some direction. Good luck. _________________ 1936 Morris 8 Series 1

Waxed upholstery thread - rot proof
A local upholsery firm may give you some in the correct colour.
Frosts do a special Awl but a curved sail makers needle may work _________________ Rover P2

I got a pack of curved needles from "The Singer shop" a sewing machine repairers near me in Lowestoft. They also had some incredibly strong waxed upholstery thread. I managed to sew some split seams back together on my rover.Thin nosed pliers are handy to feed the needle in and out. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |
