Middlewich's Transport Festival.
This two-day transport festival, held in the Cheshire town of Middlewich, has only been in existence for a few years, and this was our first visit. Held over two days, we attended on the Saturday only. The weather was much kinder than had been the case for the festival in Nantwich just one week earlier. A variety of old vehicles turned up, comprising a selection of classic cars that I'd seen elsewhere, and quite a few I'd not encountered before.

My favourite car was probably the SS2 coupe, which - I think - was the only pre-war car I saw that day (other than a fine Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith parked nearby on wedding duties). Unusually for an old-car event there wasn't even one example of Austin 7 or Morris 8. Perhaps Sunday saw more old-timers making an appearance, to join the ranks of classics already on show. In addition to cars, a selection of early motorcycles was on display, including some vintage examples. Makes represented included Vincent, Velocette, BSA, Triumph and Moto Guzzi.

Early on Saturday afternoon a road run around the town took place, classic cars and bikes mixing in with the regular traffic. A small number of commercial vehicles, mainly military in origin, also took part.
