Acquired almost by accident, to help a former work colleague get an old car shifted from their driveway (housemove), I decided that having driven it, it would be a fairly easy car to tidy up quickly and press into service. This was in Feb 2004. It was already obvious that the sills were way beyond their best, and a few healthy prods with a screwdriver soon proved that the front outriggers were getting pretty holey.
Apart from these minor concerns, the rest of the shell isn't bad really, a few bubbly bits around the headlamps and thats about it. Mileage is approx 54k miles and it drives very nicely.
At the time of writing this (2004) I've been acquiring new sills and outriggers for her, and will be getting them fitted in the very near future. One theory is that this venerable old Wolseley will make ideal Goodwood Revival transport in September - it may well happen!
Update New sills, and one MOT later, this groovy old 16/60 became my regular old wheels during the summer of 2004, and I even ended up displaying at a classic car show (by accident!). Still having the Standard 10 meant that running two classics side by side didnt really make much sense, so I sold the 16/60 off to cover my costs, plus as already mentioned I
only really acquired it by accident in the first place, so I was just glad to get it back on the road and distance it from the banger racing crowd for a few more years.
Update! some years later I happened across another example of these fine old BMC Farinas, in the all-black form of a 1959 Austin Cambridge. More info on that particular car can be found on this page.
