Austin A40 Somerset picture.Photo taken at the Audlem Festival of Transport 2005.
The curvy Somerset model came out in the early 1950s. I owned a Somerset once and managed to lose a wheel while driving over a freshly re-tarmac'd bridge in Hartford near Northwich a few years ago. The rear corner of my car crunched onto the new road surface and left quite a gouge along its length. Passers by found my wheelnuts and I was soon off on my way again at a very steady pace... If you have any more specifics on the Austin pictured here, by all means get in touch. This photograph of the A40 Somerset is one of the 105 photos that I've put up on the site, all taken at this Cheshire car and vehicle show in 2005. |

If you'd like to see the other photos that I took on this classic event, just go to the main Audlem Festival of Transport images page. The event began with the old cars congregating at the village green in Hankelow, and driving down in a leisurely convoy to the exhibition fields in nearby Audlem. The photographs shown here are a mixture of views taken from both locations.
