MG SA.

The SA first broke cover at the 1935 Motor Show. Up til this point MGs had always been small sporting little numbers designed for competition rather than a comfy ride. The large SA had a fairly routine overhead valve engine whereas the sportier models had been using designs with overhead cams. The MG SA was built from 1936 through to 1939 and compared very favourably with its arch rival - the SS Jaguar as penned by (later Sir) William Lyons. Two other similar models were made available - the 1.5 litre 4 cylinder VA and the 2.6 litre WA. Cars in these ranges could be ordered as a saloon or choice of soft-top: either the Tickford drophead coupe or the tourer.

MG Books Whether for the SA as shown below, or any other type of MG, it is worth having a look on Amazon for books, DVDs, Videos etc.

Several thousand photos feature in the various galleries here at oldclassiccar. If you're interested in MGs, whether just the SA shown here, or other models in addition to SAs, then it is worth looking at the other photos in this set of 135 motoring images, and also on the main photos page where details of all the image collections are held.

Most of the photographs in this set were taken during 2007, either at shows, road runs or in museums. A small number were also sent over to me by visitors to this site, for which I'm very grateful. If you have a photograph that you've taken, showing a vehicle that doesn't yet feature on this site, it'd be great to see it. If you own an example of MG SA and would like to see it featured in the Your Cars elsewhere on the site, then by all means get in touch too!
