Ford Prefect Ute.

The curvy cabs on the Australian-bodied utes look superb I reckon and a lot more attractive than the cut-off look found on so many UK light commercials. Note how the coachwork is blended in all the way along to form a mono-body. Many UK pickups had a separate cab and rear body. The engine in this A493A Ute (A493A rather than E493A as its an Australian assembled Ford) is the familiar sidevalve unit of 1172cc which powered thousands of small Fords after the war.

Ford Books Whether for the Prefect Ute as shown below, or any other type of Ford, it is worth having a look on Amazon for books, DVDs, Videos etc.

Classic lorry and van photos from the Gaydon truck show.

Ford Prefect Ute photograph.
In addition to the Ford Prefect Ute shown above, were many other classic and vintage lorries, both large and small. I've featured 85 of the photos I took at this particular show, held at the Gaydon motor museum in Warwickshire, in 2005. Whether you're a fan of all Fords, or just Prefect Utes like the one shown here, I'd recommend a visit to this show.

If you can shed any more info on this Prefect Ute picture, I'd be interested to add to the information I have on this particular Ford, thanks.

All the pics shown in this section were taken by myself, at Gaydon in 2005.

Further pics of classic & vintage lorries (and the occasional American truck!) can be seen on the main Gaydon show page.
