Austin A40 Mk2 rallycar.
The Rally Of The Tests historic car rally held in November 2005Notes on this classic Austin A40 Mk2 seen on 13th Nov 2005.Car 61 is a modified Farina-designed A40 built in 1962. The Mk2 A40 had a longer wheelbase than the earlier Mk1 and also had fully hydraulic brakes. The Mk1 and earliest of the Mk2s were fitted with the smaller 948cc A-Series lump. This one has the 1098 motor.
This picture, of an early A40 Mk2, is photo number 15 of 95 images that I've put up on the site showing the historic rally cars that took part in this event in 2005. Please go to the main Rally Of The Tests photos page to see the other 94 photos! All were taken during a mid-morning stop-over between competitive stages during the rally on Sunday 13th November. The venue was the former secret nuclear bunker at Hack Green, near Nantwich in Cheshire. |
