Standard 10 rallycar.
The Rally Of The Tests historic car rally held in November 2005Notes on this classic Standard 10 seen on 13th Nov 2005.The Sandilands pairing are seen here piloting their (ex-works perhaps?) Standard Ten which was built in 1957. My own Standard Ten was also a '57 model but wouldn't have been able to keep up with this one. Power comes from the Standard-Triumph 1147cc engine which was to be found in the later Herald and Mk2 Spitfire. The Standard 10 originally had a 948cc version of this motor under the bonnet.
This picture, of an early 10, is photo number 29 of 95 images that I've put up on the site showing the historic rally cars that took part in this event in 2005. Please go to the main Rally Of The Tests photos page to see the other 94 photos! All were taken during a mid-morning stop-over between competitive stages during the rally on Sunday 13th November. The venue was the former secret nuclear bunker at Hack Green, near Nantwich in Cheshire. |

I'd be interested to include some more background info on the Standard above, so if you own, or drive, this 10, please get in touch, thanks!
