Classic Saab 99L.By the late 60s the 95 and 96 Saabs were getting a little long in the tooth and a fresh new design was needed. The result was the unusually styled 99 which came initially with a 4 cylinder motor of 1709cc. This is a basic version. Later 99s would be available with fuel injection (the 99 EMS) and the landmark turbo versions. Initially 99s were available with 2 doors only. In the mid 70s the oddly-proportioned 3 and 5 door Combi-coupes came along. The design would be re-worked into the 900 series which was introduced in 1979 and lasted to the early 1990s.
