Standard Stratford Tourer photograph. In the 1920s and 1930s there were many small motor manufacturers churning out distinctive cars up and down the country. Standard (based in Coventry) produced some great looking cars in the pre-war years and this 13.9hp Stratford Tourer is an excellent example. The car shown here was built in 1926. Standard would continue building cars into the 1960s (just) but by then the cars were fairly dull and would soon disappear for good from the market. I've owned a few 50s Standard Tens but I'm the first to admit that their 50s cars were worthy but hardly cutting edge or exciting by then.
