VSCC Prescott 2011.
In 2010 I made my first visit to the VSCC's hillclimb meeting at Prescott (photos here). For 2011 I decided to attend on the Sunday, for the timed runs, rather than the Practice runs which took place on the Saturday. The weather reports ahead of the meeting were looking a little mixed to say the least, but apart from a couple of showers in the morning, and a downpour shortly after the last timed run, the weather was better than I'd expected.

Arriving as I did at approximately 07.50am, it gave me plenty of chance to have a general mooch about while things were still quiet. At 9am the first of the bicycle races took place, followed shortly after by another race for young vintagents in their pedal cars.

Much of the morning was spent having a good look around the vintage car parking area. This is probably the largest gathering of pre-war cars to be seen at any meeting, static or competitive, in the UK, so well worth having a look at if pre-war cars are your thing. One or two "modern" interlopers did find their way into the vintage parking area, but by and large the post-war classics, and tedious moderns, were kept well away.

The remainder of the morning was spent ambling around the paddock area, admiring the racing machines being prepared for the first of their two timed runs that day. The automobilia stalls turned up a few interesting old photos, then it was off for a bite of lunch before the afternoon's second runs, which I watched from a convenient vantage point at Pardon corner.
|
The final timed runs occurred shortly before 5pm, after which another brief walk around the paddock was interrupted by heavy rainfall. This seemed like a good time to call it a day, so a leisurely stroll around the vintage car park, watching many of the cars departing for home, drew my day at VSCC Prescott 2011 to a conclusion. Below are seventy-five photographs taken during the day, starting with the cycle races, and ending with a very damp queue of vintage cars heading homeward to the relative comfort of their motor houses.
