Crescent Mercedes-Benz toy racing car

Mercedes racing car

Mercedes Racing car by The Crescent Toy Co. Ltd

I'm a big fan of the 1950s Crescent diecast toys and prefer them to the contemporary toys available from Corgi and Dinky, plus they are a bit rarer too. Quick way of identifying a Crescent is by the spoke-effect wheels. The paint can flake off these toys easier than on Dinkys, plus the castings have a habit of cracking up badly. I saw a boxed example of this Mercedes that was covered in a web of cracks over its entire surface, such a shame especially as the box was in good order.

Measures: 106mm in length. Approximate value £25-£35

Colour: silver, car no.??, solid metal spoke-effect hubs, rubber tyres, loose driver, cream riveted base
