Dinky Toy Cooper Bristol code 233
More information on this toy Cooper Bristol from Dinky toys
Before kickstarting the rear engined revolution in Grand Prix racing, Charles and John Cooper fielded Bristol powered front engined Grand Prix cars, as represented by this die-cast Dinky Toy from the mid 1950s. This one is code 233, replacing the initial model code of 23G. Perhaps its most well-known pilot was a certain Mike Hawthorn, who in 1952 won a total of 4 races in this type of car. In later years he won the World Drivers Championship (1958, with Stirling Moss as runner up) in a Ferrari, and also took the honours at Le Mans in 1955, driving a D-Type for Jaguar.
