Mk2 Zephyr (206E).

Thanks to Leo for sending these two old pictures over. Both feature a Mk2 Ford Zephyr that belonged to a dentist neighbour of his in the late 1950s. This one has received a two-tone paintjob.

Mk2 Zephyr
The Mk2 Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac were introduced in 1956 as a replacement for the outgoing Mk1 range. Gone were the dumpy lines of the previous model, to be replaced by rakish styling echoing that to be seen on cars designed in the USA. The 2,553cc Zephyr was the entry-level six-cylinder car, one rung below the Zodiac in terms of specification, but a couple of rungs above the four-cylinder Consul in terms of spec, performance and desirability.

Saloons were the best sellers, and are still popular today, although most sought-after are the rare Mk2 Zephyr Convertibles, and the Abbott estate-car conversions.
