In 1967 I started working for myself as a driving instructor, and purchased a 12 month old A40 Farina to which I fitted dual controls, it was an excellent car to teach in and a good workhorse, the only drawback possibly was having no synchromesh on first gear, but in those day,s most cars were the same. |

Hi
Great picture, My mates dad was a driving instructor, and when he passed his test he was to drive his dads tuition car untill he got his own car, my other mates all used to find it hilarious, as it had dual controls, so we could make everyone think his driving was terrible! Sorry very imature, but very funny too!
Cheers

| Hi. Rick. I would be pleased for you to put it on the main site, thats where I intended it to go myself, but went wrong somewhere lol. I enjoyed being a driving instructor and done it for quite a few years, but ito be honest it got harder in the 80,s, traffic was obviously greater, but it wasn,t only that, the attitude of people wanting to learn altered, especially some of the younger learners, they just wanted instant success without putting the work into it, so I had a change of employment, went back to driving buses, which I had done previously |

My driving instructor had one of the last Triumph Dollys, I often used to meet him at the driving test centre in Chester because it was opposite my then girlfriends house, one lesson I met him directly after another of his students had just taken a test, and failed, my instructor was gutted as he was convinced this lad would pass, I got in the car and noticed that it wouldn't idel correctly, the throttle cable was binding!, the poor lad had failed becasue the tester thought he couldn't control the car! and the lad never menioned the problem!

Hi
What did the instructor say when you told him that?
A mate had a lesson for an hour prior to his test, and right at the end of this lesson before his test, he found that the car had very nearly run out of petrol, it was spluttering, just imagine if it had happened on the test!
Cheers
