My hand is up Rick - many years ago drove a borrowed 1931 Little Nine to Eccleshall - say some 9 miles or so each way.
On the outbound journey a track rod end dropped off - caused very rapid halt with splayed front wheels. Managed to get it back on and to stay there with a wire binding.
On the return journey I discovered the Bendix brakes of somewhat dubious efficency in the forward direction had no effect in reverse. Only a hedge suffered in the incident.
Any slope had a dire effect on forward progress - the "power" unit was somewhat weedy while the steering needed a blur of hand movement to catch each end of the play.
The owner asked if I wanted to buy it on my return - he must have thought my white face and shaking hands showed unrestrained joy at enjoying the drive.
However - I have an original 1932 Standard catalogue with the most wonderful artists drawings of the models - Little Nine size of a Rolls and containing 4 adults with room to spare and all that sort of thing. I look at it sometimes and wonder how they got away with it.
I think even that Chev would be better ---------- _________________ Jonathan Butler

I can tell that you're tempted - for nostalgic reasons
