Afternoon folks, this photo of a car badge was sent over earlier, does anyone recognise it?
The sender adds:
"The badge belonged to a great grandfather of mine who I never met. He was at one time a chief of police, a mason and had middle eastern connections. The symbols' meaning was kept secret from all of his family, so it's certainly interesting to me as I do love a mystery."
Is it Masonic?

Well it looks more like shorthand than Arabic.
I think it's the Typists' Motor Club.

I think you might find it's of Egyptian origin as this would tie in with the Freemasons link. _________________ 'Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another' |

Hi, it's unlikely to be Masonic as its usual to advertise membership so brashly, the top left symbol is defiantly a name,I think the top right means travel, the bottom I'm guessing means motor or car?
It looks as if its a badge for the "name , car , touring" club ?

Hi Dave,
maybe simelar meaning as this one = http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/vintage-swedish-volvo-travel-club-badge-1960s
Now Rick (and our other Volvo fans inhere ) have something to look for
I found mine 30 years ago, and it was purely by coincidense .
Me and my Volvo friend visited this old scrapyard, in seach for genuine Volvo accessories.
While standing talking to the owner, I noticed one half of a Amazongrill laying on the ground, half covered with mud.
I picked it up, and this badge was sitting on it could not belive my luck.
I found my Volvo Zippo lighter the same way (also around 30 years ago).
Seen a few travel club badge,s but never another Zippo lighter.

I have to say mate but the masons like car badges too, there's plenty on Ebay and when I've gone to the States it's very common. _________________ 'Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another' |

Drat, I thought I replied to this earlier, I must have clicked the wrong button... I don't think it's Arabic writing, it looks much more like shorthand so I doubt a Masonic connection - it's probably the Shorthand Typists Car Club. |
