I was working at RR, when Brian made the first flight in Concorde, there was great excitement at the event. Apart from knowing one of the ex Concorde Captains, i have no memorabilia of it at all. After the auction, i expect to still have no memorabilia, as the bidding will, no doubt be heavy. |

As mentioned before, I found a packet of Concorde design drawings and promo photos from the world tour in a s/h bookshop once, they came from the estate of an ex-BAC designer apparently.
I'll find a way to scan the drawings sometime and pop them on here, saying that I may need to photograph them due to their size.

Close by, we have a UPS and a FEDEX store that have "plan copiers". used by architects, builders and the like.

That was quite an interesting programme, nice to see a new one although the oft-repeated ones are pretty good too. |

There's another (new, I think) programme about Concorde on Channel 5 tonight, at 9pm. Billed as the first of a two-part series. |

Hi
I didn't realise how close the TU144 crash and the Concorde crash weree to each other.
Iff Concorde had turned to starboard instead of port it woulld have comedown on or very near the TU crash site.
The bright blue line is the approx track of Concorde going W and SW and the red track is the TU 144 going just E of N.
The Gmaps directions function shows just 6.2km between the 2 villages

I've just watched the first part. It wasn't bad, but there wasn't a great deal of new stuff, though I guess there's only so much they can cover. It was nice to see how smug everyone was about getting one over on the US, the chief designer just about managed to keep a straight face. |

Somehow I found the second episode much more interesting than the first. I had never heard about the missing spacer in the undercarriage on the ill-fated Air France aircraft, nor seen the image of the winding track along the runway. And what a coincidence that the first passenger flight test after the fleet was grounded for modification as a result of the crash just happened to be on September 11th 2001, which probably did more to kill off Concorde than the crash had.
But it was nice to hear from so many people who were obviously so proud of their involvement with the aircraft. |

Hmmm I'll have to watch it on catch-up, it didn't record for some reason and the repeat over night was replaced by something else when I checked.

We popped over to G-BOAC for a guided tour the other day. She now lives in a grey building alongside the viewing park at Manchester Airport. It was interesting to get up close to 'AC and have a shufty inside. Happily she's preserved in good order, although it would have been nice if the building had been arranged in such a way that she could be towed outside from time to time, on nice sunny days.
