not sure if the lack of response is because they're replicas of German bikes or that they're chinese... |

62rebel: The motorcycles you are referring to are made by the Chang Jiang company, and are similar to the BMW R71. It will please you to know that they are available in the US, for $6775.
The one I like though is the Harley XA copy.....

UJ, thanks for clarifying! the price is actually much lower at this time, around 3300-4000 for a "kit of parts"; this is the way around import duty, by shipping the engine/trans and frame separately. there's a lot of disclaimers about the performance capability and limitations since the technology is actually prewar. those without modern riding experience wouldn't know the difference IMHO. i have never ridden a motorcyle except as a passenger, so learning to operate the "r71 clone" would be just as easy as a new bike. i want one in Wehrmacht grey, please.... or in that pretty black with the white coachstriping. delivery to.... |

i'm betting that you can; the bikes we can get are supposed to be at least 25 years old to get around emissions certification and such. i'm very seriously considering one; china is growing to be a major industrial manufacturer in today's global economy, and they apparently built these bikes by the hundreds of thousands. very low tech and rugged, overbuilt since they're military use, if Jerry could use 'em i don't see why we can't! |
