Can anyone please tell me how to check/set the ignition timing on this engine. I can see no markings whatsoever on either the bottom pulley or the timing cover. Thanks.

Spike,
Do you have access to the flywheel? The marks are sometime stamped there either on the rim or on the forward facing face with a corresponding hole somewhere in the bellhousing.

Hi Spike,

The "Ten Information manual" from the Morris register explains how to set the timing, I've scanned the page here for you:

The timing chart appears to be missing but I have a datasheet with a better description.
There is a small hole in the rear flange of the bottom pulley which you line up with a pressing on the timing cover for TDC:

It seems the Ignition timing is TDC and is only set statically!

I have just started to rebuild my 12/4 engine but I'm having problems with the timing chain at the moment, I haven't even got as far as ignition timing Smile

I hope that helps and good luck,

Andrew
