Today on the A9, which is the major trunk road to the far north of Scotland, I encountered some VOSA activity which appeared to involve a transporter which was taking away impounded vehicles. One of these looked like a 1950s Consul or Zodiac.
If this was what it looked like, ( there were loads of reflective jackets and official vehicles over two large laybys), does it seem likely that pre 1960, MOT exempt cars might be starting to be seen as "rich pickings" for the Police and VOSA with hypothetically increased likelihood of being without a tax disc or having defects such as worn tyres etc ?
It made me reflect regarding my own car for the next 50 miles of the journey.

It could be that the enforcement officers were using ANPR and the Consul/Zodiac flashed up that there was no tax or insurance and therefore they rightfully removed from the road. Also if the vehicle was defective in any way shape or form the officers have every right to remove it from the roads making for a safer environment for the rest of us to go about our daily business.

I'm not sure about 'rich pickings' as you put it, if the car is not up to a certain standard or if it does not have the correct paperwork in place then I'm more than happy for it to be taken off our already overburdened highways. If you are 'pulled' for a check and everything is legal you have nothing to fear and the whole process only takes a few minutes of your time.

I absolutely agree with the preceding; it did as intended and made me think twice about the odd thing I need to attend to on my car. Some people, though, might be tsking big chsnces with the relative laxity of the situation
