1947 Prefect.

We have just bought the above model,it in super condition ,the only thing is
the electrics arent suppressed, what do we do to do this as the neighbors go
mad when we drive in! Sorry to sound a bit naive but we are very new to it.

Back in the 70's you used to be able to buy suppressors to fit to your ignition coil and dynamo/alternator. Also resistor spark plugs and caps were/are available.

Not being familier with a '47 Prefect igntion system I couldn't be sure if any of those items above would fit but it may be a start.

Also, check for any dodgy earth leads.

If it is only 6v then Ht Leads and plug caps maybe the only route or maybe a good auto electrician. Confused

The chances are, that it is the neighbours TV's that are being affected. Its doubtful therefore that any interference is coming from any other source than the HT leads.

That being the case, the way to go is probably suppressed plug caps AS WELL AS HT leads.

For those that are not aware, it has been an offence in the UK for many, many years to drive about with a car that has unsupressed electrics....

I would also go for coil and HT lead suppression as a “cheapish” beginning to a rewarding problem to solve - http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/htterminals/htterminals.php

I'd tell your neigbours to get SKY Wink No seriously though, just put some suppression on the LT side of the coil, a 1 microfarad capacitor (which you will get for about 20p at any Maplin store) will suppress the LT side (put it betwen SW of the coil and earth), any new supplied HT leads will sort the HT side out, the company which Jim R reffer's to are really good, talk to them about your HT leads.
