Looks like an Austin Ten, the lamps are a little smaller on the Eight.

I don't know if these two gentlemen count as icons but they are quite well known.

Four icons perhaps

I have been trying to look for a photograph of Deep Purple members posing in front of the Daimler DS or Austin Sheerline limousine which was used as the band transport in their early days .

No luck so far though. Any ideas?

Ellis,

My daughter has heard back from Ian Gillan who has spent many hours looking through old photographs but has been unable to find one with either the Daimler or Sheerline in the picture.

He is obviously not a 'car man' as he wonders why you wanted one!

Thank you very much!. I didn't know that anyone would go to the trouble of even contacting Ian Gillan with such a request.
I'm impressed and grateful.

One of the few references to this limousine in DP's early days is in a biography of Ritchie Blackmore by Jerry Bloom. In it, the DP's "money man", Ian Paice, would count the money after a gig.

Edit.

If Ian Gillan is "not a car man" then I wonder who wrote :

Nobody gonna take my car
I'm going to race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
I'm gonna break the speed of sound.....

(opening lyrics from "Highway Star") Smile
