Another soaking wet day again. I was going to go to the Moffat Rally today just for a look. I dont have an old car now but I always used to hate it when the marina got covered in muck inside and out and when I had the caravan it was the same. I never stayed at home on wet days as the organisers had made such an effort to put on a good show and I felt sorry for them when the weather was bad. However another Sunday sitting in the house looking out at the rain. Do you take your classic to shows in the rain? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

A few years ago at 'Cars in the Park' in Lichfield we travelled down on Friday when it was 'moist'. On the Saturday the show field was a quagmire with cars finding it difficult to move around. One of the few clubs that did manage it into the show ring was the Landcrabs - they even gave us fancy gifts for the effort. I still find mud inside the car from that day (I am not an avid car cleaner) Funny though, I haven't seen my wellies since!
Anyway, nowadays my car paint finish looks a lot better in the rain |

We've been to a few shows that have ended up being rained off. Last year one show was awful and all of us just ended up sitting in the back of my fathers Land Rover for most of the day. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

Depends. If it's just the odd shower then I don't mind taking the Dodge tourer out, but if the wet stuff is set in for the day, I'd prefer not to take it out - primarily because there's a lot of wood present (including the wheel spokes), which I don't really want getting sodden, and b) putting the sidescreens in makes visibility a bit marginal.
Like I said though, if it's just a bit drizzly then I don't worry too much. The run out to Dearnford Lake near us a few weekends ago was like that.
When I had the PV544, I didn't much worry about the weather at all and used it regularly whatever the heavens decide to chuck down

We have not done well with weather at all this year and past years have been the same. It is no fun going when its cold but when its wet and a quagmire its just a waste of time and petrol money which as much as £30 even for a short distance and attendance of other exhibitors will be down.
We went to Belper Steam Rally last week as we have been often since 1996 as its only 15 miles away. It is a 2 day show but we go Sundays. It poured with rain all day on Saturday though not cold and the FB page showed real problems.
The Sunday was not raining but very overcast but we decided to go in the S2 Land Rover instead of our Rover 16.
This was a good idea as even though we got there at 9.30 it was a quagmire and cars of exhibitors were getting stuck. Nevertheless attendance was good and there were rain showers and we braved it till approx 3.00pm but even walking around was an ordeal.
We were minded to go to the Rover Sports Register annual rally at Burton on Trent Brewing museum today which has indoor attraction but the overnight rain put the the decider on so we have not bothered. It has not actually rained since approx but dull and and damo though we have had 10 secs of sun!
Its all very disappointing to the organizers and clubs who put a lot of their free time an effort into these events _________________ Rover P2

Wow! What an event!
All my favourites:
Cobb's Napier Railton
Parry Thomas' Babs
Wolf Barnato's Unique Coupe Bentley
The Amazing Fiat S76
and lots more.
Fabulous!
Thanks,

Hi Larry, it wasn't too bad at Moffat - once the sun came out it dried up quite quickly so it was just a little messy at the gate(clubs entrance). Plenty cars in the individual field as well. All the best,JD. _________________ 1958 Ford Zephyr Mk2 Convertible
