My SS gives about 19 mpg in normal driving but on the mildly competitive Beamish Run this dropped to about 13 mpg.

My Tdi powered Land Rover will easily do 35 mpg but I wish I could say the same about the Mark 2.
Some owners claim 20 - 23 mpg but the best I attained was 18 mpg. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

I often get people asking me what MPG I get out of the Somerset, among other things. It's usually around 29, but to be honest you don't buy a car of this age for good fuel economy.
If I wanted that, I'd be driving a diesel Nissan Note or some other modern garbage. _________________ Richard Hughes |

I have a 1937 Morris tourer that, has only moved when I have pushed it, so that must equate to ∞ mpg

Our petrol S2 Land Rover does only 15 mpg short or long drives
The S3 with overdrive does 18 mpg. Both have same Weber carb conversions too which made no difference to consumption just smoother running
The Rover P5 3 Litre Coupe auto does 16 mpg locally and 22 mpg on long runs.
The P5B does about 18 locally and 24 mpg on long runs.
The P4 does 20 locally and 24 on long runs - it has overdrive as well and 2.6 litre version of the P4 engine
The Mk2 Mini does about 40 mpg
The 1938 Rover P2 does about 23 mpg and the freewheel is used.
I drive the cars hard everyday and we are not really bothered about consumption anyway.
On a new BMW Mini Cooper petrol we had for 6 months local driving gave only 32 mpg and not much better on long ones either - nothing like the official figures. Not much point keeping the car so it was sold. _________________ Rover P2

The Morgan does around 35-45mpg, depending on the roads, usually around 35mpg on the North of Scotland roads. _________________ KA

Not really sure what my Minx does to the gallon, the fuel guage has never worked correctly and putting fuel in is done more in guesswork! _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |

My Range Rover LSE never varies, solo or towing its around 13.5mpg. But with LPG at approx half of petrol, this equates to 27 in money terms, so I'm a happy bunny.
We were expecting a little more after the engine rebuild, so the engine-builder wants to have another go at it.This will happen after the bank holiday, so watch this space. |

The E-type surprises people somewhat since it has always returned about 24mpg and that with spirited driving. Being an early car it has a shorter rear axle than the later ones so is a bit less economical. The XKSS on the other hand is a different matter. When on a track day it is easier to count in litres per minute. Triple 45DCOE's love their petrol. |

I'm gettin 35-40mpg from the Lancia; strangely the harder I drive it, the more economical it is |

25mpg from my Riley and from my A8, both use 99RON so fuel burns a bit of a hole in my wallet. I used to record every top-up on an app on my phone but it only highlighted how much I was spending so I stopped at the beginning of this year and now drive in blissful ignorance - until my credit card statement arrives... _________________ David
